So what exactly is VO2 Max?
VO2 Max
VO2 Max is defined as "the highest rate of oxygen consumption attainable during maximal or exhaustive exercise". Basically, the harder you exercise, the more oxygen you consume.
There is a point where your body cannot consume any more oxygen even if you increase the exercise intensity, and this point is your VO2 Max.
VO2 max is measured in millilitres per kilogramme of body weight per minute (ml/kg/min).
What does my VO2 Max actually tell me?
The higher your VO2 Max is, the higher your levels of aerobic fitness and endurance will be.
An Athlete, for example, will have a higher VO2 Max when compared to a non athlete.
